Utilities Beta

Small jobs, done in seconds. Utilities is one window for small, single-purpose utilities — the kind of chore that would otherwise take a dozen clicks in your DAW.

Requires StudioTools 2.4.0 or later. Coming soon to the Mac App Store — beta testers have it now.

The utilities are listed on the left; the selected utility fills the rest of the window.

Open Utilities

  1. Click the StudioTools icon in the menu bar.
  2. Choose Utilities….

When a StudioTools window is in front, Utilities… is also in the StudioTools app menu.

The sidebar lists the utilities. Click one to open it on the right — its name and a one-line summary are at the top. Utilities remembers the one you used last and opens it next time.

When a utility can't run yet

Some utilities need something before they can do their job — for example an open Pro Tools session, or a newer version of Pro Tools. Then the utility tells you what's missing instead of showing its controls:

Utilities that don't need Pro Tools always run. The Tempo Calculator, for example, works without any DAW — only its Read from Pro Tools button is disabled, with a line that says why.

No session open: the utility says what to do.
